Electro Music and its influence on Mainstream Artists

Electro Music, we are talking about the genre of Electro Music. This article does not revolve around the notions of electronic dance music, but the elements of what has now been coined as "Electro". The mainstream top 40 billboard charts of radio have adopted very heavily various elements we consider "electro".

One may ask, "Who are the key electro DJs that exist today?" When speaking of DJs, there is also the notion of producers. Hence the term "artist" is then used to describe the leading individuals in the Electro genre. Top five artists in the electro genre who have made an incredible impact are:

1. Deadmau5

2. Benny Benassi

3. A-Trak

4. MSTRKFT

5. David Guetta

An argument can be placed that the above artists don't stick to 100% electro, but that is essentially irrelevant since these are artists who have originally inspired electro elements into the scene and have continued to evolve the music as it is heard today.

Mainstream radio has taken the skills from these predominantly electronic dance music artists and blended it into pop and a top 40 culture. For these artists it is great because they can see revenue generate from their relentless hours of work. For those that grasp onto the "non-mainstream" idea it might hurt to see favorite electo artists hit the mainstream. However the growth of electro into hip hop, pop and rock has opened a new chain of production skills.

Artists such as Pit Bull, Chris Brown, Sean Kingston, Rihanna and Lady Gaga have taken the full swing at using electro sounds to create mainstream dance tracks for the club. Their producers are the ones listed above. While using talented producers and catering to a mainstream audience, the clubs are packed with dancers.

One can even argue that this music helps make a better atmosphere in the club. Without the ghetto hip-hop or violent/degrading music, club goers are likely to have a better dancing environment.

The main thing people desire is to listen to this type of music. Internet radio websites like Pure.FM (http://www.pure.fm) are the leading promoters for Electro (http://www.pure.fm/electro.m3u). Electro radio can be tuned in 24 hours a day 365 days a year without any commercials and then broadcasted at high quality. In fact the quality is identical to CD quality.

The growth of electro into the mainstream is good for the electronic dance music industry. Milan Dave from Pure.FM Radio has said "It has created a new breath of life and allowing a whole generation of electronic dance music enthusiasts to enjoy the artists’ creation."
